2006-2011 Elder Care Free Service
The year 2006 marks the 60th year of Independence for India. Hence, Sri Ramakrishna Seva Nilayam decided to start the project INDIA-60 commemorating this milestone by caring for the senior citizens who are at least 60 years old.
The overall object is to support needy senior citizens who are above 60 years old and are below the poverty line. Generally, these senior citizens are not capable of earning a livelihood for themselves. Without any immediate family members to take care of them, they are left with no sustainable ways for food and health care.
The project will not relocate the people from their environment. Yet, it is aiming to fulfill their basic needs by providing:
- 1 good meal (lunch) a day
- 2 sets of dresses per year
- INR 50 per month (incidental expenses)
- Health care
The project is aimed at:
- Improving the self-respect of the individuals
- Avoiding the loneliness
- Increasing happiness
- Improving health
To care for 1 senior citizen for 1 year, it costs Sri Ramakrishna Seva Nilayam INR 8,000.
