1994-2008 Children Welfare Free Service
VETHATHIRI GURUKULAM, an orphanage for destitute female children was started in 1994. The aim was to accept girls who are at least three years old and provide them with the basic necessities of shelter, food, clothing and sound education.
This Female Children’s Home is recognized by the Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Board, Chennai.
In addition to the basic necessities, the children have also received vocational training (e.g., tailoring, manufacturing of greeting cards, paper bags, office envelopes, and artificial bouquets) and moral training (e.g., yoga, meditation, music, and various sports).
The current strength of the Gurukulam is 40. Of the forty, 5 are entering 12th Standard (Higher Secondary), 6 are entering 10th Standard (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) and 2 have completed their Degrees. These girls are currently handling the day-to-day operations of the various activities at Sri Ramakrishna Seva Nilayam.
